He was the first Accredited Air Conditioning Inspector in the UK and is also a Low Carbon Energy Assessor and Low Carbon Consultant. Darren also provides training at Eastwood Park (NHS National Training Centre for Estates Management) in the key areas of Energy and Sustainability and Premises Assurance Model (PAM).

Darren has over 30 years’ hospital infrastructure optimisation experience. With extensive experience in Energy Audits for Hospitals and International clients, Darren has been instrumental in improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon footprint for many government and commercial organisations, particularly by extending the air conditioning inspections into a fully intrusive survey to identify real benefits.

Darren has expertise in managing a range of projects such as retained energy management, statutory air conditioning inspections, refrigeration system audits, EPC’s, DEC’s, F-Gas inspections, CHP feasibility studies, investment grade energy efficiency audits, project management support and many other energy and environmental related services.

Darren is currently undertaking PhD research on the topic of Strategic Energy Management within Hospitals. To date Darren is the first author of a number of academic papers specifically looking at design margins within Hospital building service systems. These papers have been presented at international design conferences; Design 2016, ICED 2017 and Design 2018.
