The Society of Digital Engineering (SDE) has been formed to provide a home for those involved in digitising the built environment, either as designers, contractors, manufacturers, clients, facility managers or software vendors.

A key aspect of the SDE’s current strategy is communicating SDE Work. This involves bringing the work being done across the society to the attention of the membership and the wider industry. Part of this is the provision of events for members and industry peers to come together and learn, develop, and inform each other will be central to our activities.

Communicating SDE work currently has four components: Events, Publications, Social Media and Outreach.

This volunteer role aims to create a community by hosting and attending events with the aim of increasing membership. Events can include industry forums, hackathons, online membership events.

Key tasks:

  • Arranging and co-ordinating the SDE’s technical and social events throughout the year.
  • Sourcing sponsorship to assist with funding of events
  • Book venues and schedule speakers
  • Do final checks at the day of the event to ensure everything meets standards
  • Attending SDE events as a face of the Society to engage with members and individuals from the wider industry
  • Provide marketing material to attract interest in events
  • Collaborate with other CIBSE Networks and wider industry

This role is a great opportunity to be involved with the growth of the SDE and offers networking and professional development opportunities. The role will take up roughly 3-5 hours a month including a monthly Steering Committee meeting which will be an opportunity to report back to other members of the SDE. You will be supported by both the CIBSE Membership Network and Engagement Team as well as the CIBSE Marketing Department who both have social media experience.
