Speaker's name: Professor Jeremy Myerson
Speaker's biography
Over a long career spanning 45 years, Jeremy Myerson has been a journalist, editor, researcher, academic and author exploring the social and economic impact of design, technology and innovation. After senior editorial roles on Design magazine and Creative Review, Myerson was founder-editor of Design Week, the world’s first weekly newsmagazine for designers, in 1986. He went on to forge an academic career at the Royal College of Art where he co-founded and directed the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design, set up business incubator unit InnovationRCA and served on the RCA’s senior management team. In 2016 he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the RCA for his work in design research. Today, he is Professor Emeritus at the Royal College of Art, director of the Worktech Academy, a global knowledge network on the future of work, and a visiting professorial fellow at Oxford University’s Institute of Population Ageing. He is the author of more than 20 books in the field, including most recently New Old: Designing for our Future Selves (2017), Designing a World for Everyone (2021) and Unworking: The Reinvention of the Modern Office (2022), which was highly commended in the Business Books of the Year Awards 2023.
